Hello I am Terry

    My studio is  located in heart of Fenelon Falls. My fascination with refractive light lay originated with on land and underwater photographic studies. My shift to focus on glass was a natural transition from photography that began at a one-week immersive course at the Haliburton School of Art & Design. After which I immersed in books, online courses and resources to learn and develop the knowledge and skills needed to work with this complex, but rewarding medium.

I  create highly detailed functional pieces that reflect a rich life immersed in nature.  Each creation is an adventure in glass that offers the viewer a multi-sensory experience influenced through the beauty of light, colour, shape, texture and reflection.

The material I use is classified as an amorphous solid, glass becomes an unpredictable shape shifter when exposed to heat and pressure and can produce unexpected results.  Each piece goes through multiple stages of hand-crafting fragments of glass, hand polishing, shaping and up to 7 separate kiln firings to transform a sheet of glass into a final piece of art. Opening the kiln is like waking up on Christmas morning to unexpected delights or the deflation of unfulfilled desires.
